Proposals to Change the Definition of Marriage: In the light of the bishops’ conference letter, you are asked to consider signing the Coalition for Marriage’s online petition which can be found at www.C4M.org.uk. A printed copy is in the porch for you to sign or speak to Elizabeth Hitchens.
Theology for Teachers: This course, which will be led by Bishop Declan, takes place in St Augustine’s College, Trowbridge. The course is aimed at the non specialist teacher who is seeking a better understanding of key areas of Catholic thought. It will cover, over four sessions, the topics of Sacramentality and the Theology of Relationships. Each session will begin at 4.30pm and finish no later than 6.00pm. Tea and coffee will be available from 4pm. It also offers an opportunity to meet and discuss with colleagues from other schools. The course begins on Tuesday 29th May at 4.30pm. Subsequent dates are: 12th June, 26th June and 10th July. Governors are also welcome to attend. If you wish to book a place please contact: Jenny Fitzgerald at Alexander House, 160 Pennywell Rd, Bristol, BS50TX, 01179025593 or e mail This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Spring CAFOD Plant Sale: Time to think about spring and starting off those plants to support our plant sale in aid of CAFOD on 12 and 13 May.
Confirmation: Following on from the confirmation weekend, there will be a series of short meetings on Sunday evenings for candidates in the parish hall. These will each begin at 7pm and last an hour and a half. This should enable the group to have some social time together as well as preparing in a more practical way for the sacrament. The meetings are scheduled for the following dates: Sunday 22nd April, Sunday 20th May, Sunday 24th June. The final date is only a few days before the confirmation takes place and it will be extremely important that all attend so they can go through with the practicalities of the evening. Please make every effort to ensure the candidates attend these meetings. For any young people, especially confirmation candidates, interested in preparing some drama for use during Mass, we will meet immediately after the first meeting on Sunday 22nd April at approximately 8.30 pm.
Easter Collection: Please remember that the Easter collection, with that taken at Christmas, are the only two collections that the parish gives to its priest and are one of the most important ways in which the unsalaried clergy are supported. Envelopes for the Easter collection are to be found in the porch. Thank you.
May God bless you and grant you a very happy Easter as we celebrate that Christ our Light and Life is truly risen.
Alleluia Alleluia Alleluia
