Church Cleaning: Week 3 Divine Office: Week 4
Welcome: A warm welcome to Canon Harding who will be celebrating the Eucharist in St Edmund’s Parish this weekend.
Second Collection: A second collection will be taken up next weekend in support of the Apostleship of the Sea. Please fill in a gift aid envelope if you can.
Papal Visit 2010: We are privileged to have Glen Alabaster representing our parish at the forthcoming visit of the Pope on the 16th September. He will be in London with many other young people from across the diocese and the UK to take part in a procession from Westminster Cathedral, where they will receive a message from the Pope, to Hyde park where there will be a gathering of over 5 000 young people to celebrate being young Catholics. Diocesan Certifícate in Catechetics: I am pleased to inform you that three parishioners have successfully completed this certificate. A new course will begin in January. If you might be interested in going on this course please speak to me.
Rooted in Christ: It is felt by many that they would like to deepen their understanding of the faith, and want to take it further than what they have received in the RCIA course in the parish. The diocese in holding a series of talks starting in October and running to July next year on a whole range of topics. It is not necessary to go to all, but you can pick the ones you would like to attend. See the poster for details and speak to me if you would like a booking form
Reception into the Catholic Church: If you are would like to become a catholic or are thinking about it, please contact me so we can discuss the way forward plans can be made for next year.
Prayers for the Sick: It is intended that from July prayers for the sick will be offered at one of the weekday Masses. If you know of any sick parishioners or you yourself are unwell and would like your name added to this prayer list please contact Elizabeth Hitchens on 812851
Hymn Books: If your find your hymn book is damaged and in need of repair, please place it in the box provided in the porch.
Parking: Please do try to utilize all the space in the car park by filling it up from the back and also parking close to other cars so that more spaces are available. It would also be advisable to park in Briansclose Road behind the church and then use the pedestrian through path between nos 69 and 71 Oxford Road. There is also usually space available in the The Pippin and sometimes in Abberd Way. Please don’t park illegally.
Tea in the Hall: Please do come through to the hall after Sunday Mass and very friendly and welcoming group there for tea, coffee and a biscuit and the children can run about safely in the garden. The more people the better!
New Translation of the Roman Missal: The new Missal will probably be introduced into parishes in England in 2011. A proper process of catechesis needs to take place before this happens and a good starting point is to have a look at the texts which have already been improved.
