CAFOD Lent Fast Day: The Fast Day this year is on Friday 26 February. Please give up something, for example a meal, on Friday and donate the money that you would have spent to CAFOD. Please take an envelope after Mass and give generously.  Envelopes and donations will be collected after Masses next weekend. Please don’t forget to fill in your gift aid details if you are a taxpayer CAFOD hopes to help the world’s most vulnerable people. 

FAIRSTRADE: Please support Fairtrade Fortnight (22 Feb to 7 March) by coming to a Traidcraft Coffee morning on Saturday 27 Feb from 10.30 to 12.30 at Silver St. Methodist Church, organised by fairtraders from St Edmund's, St Mary's and Calne Methodist Churches. A raffle to support this event will be held over the next few weeks. Prizes include a selection of Fairttrade goods and crafts. Tickets 50p each, 3 tickets for a £1. Draw on 7 March. Your support helps the parish live up to your Millenium Covenant with the Poor. 

Adult Catechesis: During Lent a series of talks will be presented by the RCIA team on the Sacraments. These will take place on Wednesday evenings in the hall. Please put this in your diary if you are looking to deepen your faith through knowledge and discussion this Lent. The first talk takes place this coming Wednesday the 24^th February in the Hall at 7.30.  The theme is the sacraments in general and I will be talking about holy orders in particular. 

Children's Liturgy: During Lent the Liturgy group will meet every Sunday during 10am Mass. We will be focusing on the "Stations of the Cross" and decorating a cross to bring into church for Holy Week.

Penitential Service: The Church requires that each and every Catholic should make use of the Sacrament of penance. A penitential service will be held at 3.00 pm on Sunday 21^st March, where there will be at least 4 priests available to hear confessions. Please do make use of this opportunity.

Chrism Mass: A list is up in the porch for those who wish to attend the Chrism Mass in Clifton Cathedral on Wednesday 30^th March. The coach will leave Calne at 9.00 am. Cost £5.

Holy Rood Infant School Swindon: The governors are seeking to appoint a practicing Catholic teacher to the post of Deputy Head for September 2011.  School visits are warmly encouraged.  The post is subject to an enhanced CRB check.  Application packs and further details are available from the school.  Closing date the 26^th February; interview date : 17^th March 2010.

Parish accounts: A copy of the 2009 Parish Financial Return to Clifton Diocesan Finance Office has been attached to the notice board.

Tea in the Hall: Please do come through to the hall after Sunday Mass and very friendly and welcoming group there for tea, coffee and a biscuit and the children can run about safely in the garden. The more people the better!

Parking:  Please do try to utilize all the space in the car park by filling it up from the back and also parking close to other cars so that more spaces are available. It would also be advisable to park in Briansclose Road behind the church and then use the pedestrian through path between nos 69 and 71 Oxford Road. There is also usually space available in the The Pippin and sometimes in Abberd Way. Please don’t park illegally.

New Translation of the Roman Missal: The new Missal will probably be introduced into parishes in England in 2011. A proper process of catechesis needs to take place before this happens and a good starting point is to have a look at the texts which have already been improved.
