First Holy Communions: Would those parents who would like their children to receive Holy Communion for the first time next year please write to me and make their intentions known.  Please include details of your child’s baptism and your contact details. The first Communions will take place on Sunday 6^th June, Corpus Christi.

Children’s Choir:  Well done to all those children who sung in the choir for the Christmas Eve Mass.  The singing was beautiful and it was lovely to see you all singing together.   All children are very welcome to join the next children’s choir which will be on Sunday 31^stJanuary; there are no additional practise sessions needed.   Please be at the church for 9.40am.   If you have any queries please contact Jane Murphy or Gabrielle Pickford.

Friends of St Edmund’s School: "The Friend's of St Edmund's have arranged a discounted visit to the Swindon Wildcats Ice Hockey match on Saturday 30th January, doors open 5pm for match start at 5.45pm, at the Link Centre,West Lea, Swindon.  All the money from children’s’ ticket sales goes straight to FOSE, so it should be a good fundraiser.  Adults tickets £5 and Children £2, normally £11 and £5.50 respectively.  If you would like to come please email  This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Week of Prayer for Christian Unity:  This will conclude this Sunday 24th, 4.00 pm, United Service at the Baptist church, Castle Hill,with speaker Martin Parkes from Christian Aid. Everyone welcome. There will be a collection for the people of Haiti at the service.

Pastoral Council Meeting: I would very much like all the pastoral council and anybody else who is interested to set aside Saturday the 6^th February 2010 for a day workshop, at the Church of the Sacred Heart Wootton Bassett. The day will start with Mass at 10.00 a.m. The day will be devoted to discerning the future role of the pastoral council in the parish The Diocesan Guidelines on Pastoral Councils will form the background to these discussions. There is a copy of the diocesan guidelines on the diocesan web page at www.cliftondiocese.com/Pastoral-Council-Report-2009  .I also have copies to hand out. I hope we can finish at 3.00p.m

Tea in the Hall: Please do come through to the hall after Sunday Mass and very friendly and welcoming group there for tea, coffee and a biscuit and the children can run about safely in the garden. The more people the better!

Parking:  Please do try to utilize all the space in the car park by filling it up from the back and also parking close to other cars so that more spaces are available. It would also be advisable to park in Briansclose Road behind the church and then use the pedestrian through path between nos 69 and 71 Oxford Road. There is also usually space available in the The Pippin and sometimes in Abberd Way. Please don’t park illegally.

New Translation of the Roman Missal: The new Missal will probably be introduced into parishes in England in 2011. A proper process of catechesis needs to take place before this happens and a good starting point is to have a look at the texts which have already been improved.
