Great North Run: Phil and Sue Spreag will run the Great North Run in Newcastle next Sunday 20th September to raise funds for CAFOD. The Great North Run is the biggest half marathon in the world, and will be televised live on the BBC. You can visit their justgiving webpage atwww.justgiving.com/Sue-Spreag.
Launch of the Diocesan Guidelines for the RCIA: On Saturday 26th September, a day will be held at Alexander House, from 10.am-3pm for the launch of the Diocesan RCIA guidelines.
St Elizabeth’s Convent: Nuns for this convent in Belarus will be at the Church for Mass on Friday the 9th October. They look after severely disabled children and others in great need in Belarus. They will be here selling icons and other artefacts. Please do make every effort to come to Mass on that Friday to support them. The church in Belarus which is in communion with the Pope is subject to a great deal of persecution and harassment.
Day for Pastoral Councils: Saturday 10th October, 10.am -3pm, St Bede’s College: Bishop Declan invites all members of Pastoral Councils to a day at St Bede’s College. During this day, a new “Implementation Guide for Called to be a people of Hope” well be launched. There will also be an opportunity to hear Dr Kevin Treston, a renowned international speaker talk on the subject of pastoral councils and good leadership.
RCIA Programme: The parish’s new RCIA programme will start this Thursday evening the 24th September at the Hilmarton Community Hall starting at 7.30 p.m. If you have indicated that you wish to be received into the church or are an adult wishing to be confirmed, please make every effort to attend. If you would just like to learn more about your faith or simply join others in the community for prayer you are also most welcome to attend, it is not necessary that you commit to all sessions of the programme. The first topic covered will be ‘What is the Church’ Lifts can be provided.
Mill Hill / APF Boxes If you have a red box, please ensure it is dropped off with Pat at Church for emptying by the end of September, before the end of the collecting year. They will be emptied and returned to the shelf in the corner of the Church porch, for you to collect please. If you don't have a box, please consider getting one. Missionaries around the world depend on the support they get in this way. Because they get that support, they are there to ensure other vital work e.g. CAFOD aid, gets to those who need it. Contact Martin Hinnigan on 817417, should you like a red box.
Tea in the Hall: Please do come through to the hall after Sunday Mass and very friendly and welcoming group there for tea, coffee and a biscuit and the children can run about safely in the garden. The more people the better!
Parking: Please do try to utilize all the space in the car park by filling it up from the back and also parking close to other cars so that more spaces are available. It would also be advisable to park in Briansclose Road behind the church and then use the pedestrian through path between nos 69 and 71 Oxford Road. There is also usually space available in the The Pippin and sometimes in Abberd Way. Please don’t park illegally.
